I didn't want a photograph in the background or imagery on the cover, because I wanted the emphasis on the playful type. However, I did like the idea of a pattern to be included in the design and I wanted it to look fresh and current, but I also wanted the traditional aspect of the brand name and old recipes to shine through too. I came up with the idea of using something found in the kitchen for a close up pattern and I really liked the idea of a checkered tea towel effect to appear on the cover. I played around with a close up shot of a red tea towel as a border.
